Warminster Journal Article 05 Mar 10

Cadets from 2238 (Warminster) Squadron, Air Training Corps recently enjoyed one of their regular opportunities to go gliding at RAF Hullavington. The cadets received training in glider flying as part of a programme that will eventually see them fly solo. Christopher Redding, pictured, said of his experience:

"Gliding is one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. You can see almost everything and it is very quiet. You feel so free and alive. I was nervous during my first flight but, I was allowed to take control even then. Further flights I took control more until in one of my last flights I was in control for the majority of the flight. It is my hope to be awarded a place on an RAF sponsored gliding scholarship to learn to glide solo."

The squadron is looking forward to further gliding during 2010 as well as powered flying on Tutor aircraft at Boscombe Down, training for the Ten Tors event and camps in the UK and overseas. The squadron is actively recruiting cadets aged 13-17.
